RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE PLACEMENTS

Fairfield College Residential Placements

Fairfield is primarily a day college, with around 20% of our students as residents. Our placements are for students of Fairfield College, who have been assessed by their Local Authority as eligible for a residential placement. We have some Wiltshire residents, but most are from all over England.

If you would like a residential placement we suggest you contact your Local Authority SEND team to discuss the possibility.

What can I expect from a residential placement?

You will live in one of our 6 houses, all a short walk from the college campus.

You will share the house with other students, which is great practice if your goal is to live with friends in the future.

You might want to stay for the whole term or go home at weekends. We can be flexible for you. Our staff are on hand 24 /7 to offer help and support when necessary.

You will have your own room with a shared bathroom. We have large kitchens and dining rooms so you can cook and eat with friends. You will learn the life skills you need to play your part and to live happily in a shared household. Together you will learn to budget, road crossing, to travel on public transport and to manage your money.

Whilst we support you to look after yourself and your room, we also focus on your physical health and individual wellbeing, to be sure we are doing all we can to help you flourish. We administer medication and arrange and attend medical appointments with you, when necessary.

We also use the 5 ways to wellbeing in all our plans.

  • Connecting with others
  • Keeping active
  • Always learning
  • Giving to others
  • Being mindful

Your wellbeing plan helps us focus on what you enjoy and what makes you happy. Having fun really matters too!

We encourage you to join in evening sports clubs, youth club and to take part in trips out at weekends. There is always plenty to be involved with.

Our house is your home, so of course there’s chance to chill before another busy day at college.
