TEACHER TRAINING

ASCENTIS DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING LEVEL 5

Fairfield College are excited to offer a teacher training opportunity to develop and train as a Further Education (FE) Tutor in a unique educational setting.

Fairfield Trust is a charity that provides opportunities for young people and adults with learning disabilities. The Trust comprises; Fairfield College (Dilton Marsh, Westbury), an Independent Specialist College providing day and residential courses to young people with learning disabilities. Fairfield Animal Centre (Trowbridge), an Animal Park and Café providing training opportunities to students and adults with learning difficulties. Both sites offer a range of vocational learning opportunities and work experience for students.

Why choose Fairfield College?

There are many people that would like to train as FE teachers, but often they are not able to secure a placement, or their employer cannot release them to access a course. Fairfield offers a unique setting to train as a teacher in a range of specialist areas. We offer a range of subject areas: Maths, English, Horticulture, Small Animal Care, Farming, Customer Service, Hospitality and Life Skills. We can also provide placements for those wanting to develop their skills in teaching young people with SEND.

Our course is appropriate for any pre-service or in-service trainees looking to qualify for their role as a teacher, trainer or tutor. There are many settings in which this course would be relevant, such as a Further Education College, Adult and Community Learning Centre, Training Providers and those delivering work-based training such as voluntary, community, private and public organisations.

We offer training and support from our experienced team to develop your teaching skills. You will develop a professional portfolio of skills and understanding, plan and deliver teaching sessions, undertake research and academic study in the theory of learning and ways in which people learn and engage with the lesson observation process.
